In December of 2006 Bennett, originally from Austin, went to Argentina on a month-long vacation of bird hunting, fishing and exploring the country. He visited the wine country in Mendoza, drank a lot of fabulous wine and absolutely fell in love with the area. After returning home he could not stop thinking of his trip. Bennett returned the following June and purchased two vineyards. After staying in Argentina for seven years, getting married and having a son born in Buenos Aires, he returned to Austin. Bennett purchased the Spicewood winery property in November 2014 and opened in June 2015.
Once inside the winery you will notice the decor imported from Argentina. Cowhide chairs, stained wood and hand woven rugs create a warm feel. At the tasting bar you will sometimes find the owner himself, Bennett, ready to pour you a glass. You can choose a wine tasting flight and some Argentine eats from our new Patio Steakhouse Grill to pair with your wine. Take a glass or a whole bottle to the patio to relax and take in the scenery.
